Subject: A Film Thread - 2011 Mon Jan 17, 2011 2:54 pm
so i thought we could use this as a general film thread cinema films, new releases, films you want to see, favourite films, films you're going to watch, recommendations and so on...yes?
some of you will know i'm a bit of a horror film geek, i think i'm going to watch one later. just had a browse of my hard drive and found the first one in ages i'm undecided about whether i want to see it's called A Serbian Film...

i've watched ones other than your average mainstream slasher but this one doesn't appeal to me, i think the story and actual premise doesn't really attract me. i probably will watch it eventually having said that

Watched 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' excellent worth watching.
Forty years ago, Harriet Vanger disappeared from a family gathering on the island owned and inhabited by the powerful Vanger clan. Her body was never found, yet her uncle is convinced it was murder and that the killer is a member of his own tightly knit but dysfunctional family. He employs disgraced financial journalist Mikael Blomkvist and the tattooed, ruthless computer hacker Lisbeth Salander to investigate. When the pair link Harriet’s disappearance to a number of grotesque murders from almost forty years ago, they begin to unravel a dark and appalling family history. But the Vangers are a secretive clan, and Blomkvist and Salander are about to find out just how far they are prepared to go to protect themselves. I've heard that The King's Speech is well worth a watch. I'm not normally interested in films like this however, I'd definatly use an Orange Wednesday on this. Has anyone seen it?

i haven't seen it but have heard about The King's Speech, spoke to someone who has who said that Firth and Bonham-Carter put in quite phenomenal performances. would definitely go and see it

The Kings Speech is one of those 'worthy' British type of films, very well made but not my type of movie. I would highly recommend 'The fighter' which is very good and I am looking forward to the Coen brothers remake of True Grit...

seen the kings speech, not my type of film i thought, but really enjoyed it would recommend it too anyone

Watched interview with a vampire and one hour photo the last few days (both movies a few years old now). Both pretty good but lacked something.
Watched the fighter recently with Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale. Really enjoyed it, Christian bale's performance in it was quality. I recommend it to people who haven't seen it yet
I want to see black swan, anyone seen it ? Is it anygood ?

Black Swan is very good, same director as the wrestler and believe it or not, quite similar stories... I might have to watch Interview with a Vampire again, haven't seen that in years...
The Fighter... best film I have seen in a while...
Tron 3d... took my son to see it, massive pile of wank...

me and Britt watched Black Swan, i thought it was really good, very very well shot & a good story to it. thought a few plot points weren't as developed as they could've been but it suited the film regardless
a few bits were a bit jumpy/freaky but nothing major in my opinion. however Britt had trouble sleeping after it
oh there's a pretty full on lesbian scene too if you're watching it with kids

Watched the town with ben afflick last night, thought it was a good movie but nothing special. Good performance from Ben afflick to be fair.
Watched the mechanic recently also. Nothing special and a very predictable story line. Good action movie to sit down and watch if you don't really want to think!
Watched true grit, thought that was a good movie an some good acting performances from Matt Damon and geff bridges.
A movie I want to see is the Machinist witch is pretty old but I still haven't watched. Anyone here seen it ? Is it worth a watch?

Levi, Black Swan actually amazed me. You know i'm not much of a film guy but it actually blew me away. Quality mate.
